Far from the noisy street traffic you can find some of the best skating
and cycling there is. Go right from your hotel to the skating path or
in the pool. Take a break in the shade under a tree or in one of the many
enjoyable restaurants right on the way. Or take part in activities such
as a music festival or other colorful local events – all this and more
is possible along the FLAEMING-SKATE, Europe's first and largest skating
path in the region of Teltow-Fläming, just south of Berlin. FLAEMING-SKATE
is a trekking paradise for skaters, cyclists, and even those in wheelchairs
who like to remain active. More than 210 km long, the path is designed
especially for fitness enthusiasts of all ages and includes different
courses that take you through a variety of villages, fields, meadows,
and forests.
At the heart of FLAEMING-SKATE is a circular course (RK1) that leads
you through the Lower Fläming countryside and the cities of Luckenwalde
and Jüterbog. This course is made up of both easy and challenging circuits.
On the smooth asphalt of the FLAEMING-SKATE, your skates seem to roll
by themselves! Although the paths are level and well designed, skaters
should know how to stop with their skates. And no matter how experienced
you are, it's always a good idea to have the proper gear (helmet, pads)
before setting out on the path.
While you're out enjoying yourself in the middle of nature, it pays to stop every once and a while and see what the region has to offer. The rest areas along the paths are not the only place to recharge your batteries – there are also many small villages you'll discover along the way that can accommodate your every need. From skate rentals to beer gardens, from hotels and boarding houses to the many local stands and markets, there's never a shortage of things to see and experience. Take a dip in one of the many area swimming pools, or just get to know someone new – it's also the people you'll meet that make this area both fun and interesting!
If you're interested in history and culture, this region also has a lot to offer. The town of Luckenwalde and the historical city center of Jüterbog are worth a look, as well as the former military airfield in the Altes Lager part of Niedergörsdorf. The museum in the Armin Palace near Wiepersdorf and the many windmills that lie directly along the FLAEMING-SKATE are also worth a stop.

On the Kolzenburg course (RK2, 12 km long) near Luckenwalde, beginners can easily handle the terrain. The path is easy to maneuver and remains fairly level. In this area, you'll not only find a bed for the night and a hot meal, but also inline skate and bicycle rentals for use on the beginner's course. From Kolzenburg, it's not far to the swimming pool in Luckenwalde or the wellness baths of Fläming-Therme.
The RK3 course from Jüterbog through Neuheim and Grüna to the Zinna monastery – this is 11 kilometers of unforgettable skating. It also offers a lot of culture and history. The medieval city centre of Jüterbog, the Cistercian monastery, and the weaving museum in Kloster Zinna are worth a stop as well. The Skate-Arena in Jüterbog is situated close to the skating path. It is an ideal place for training and competitions. In 2005, the European Speedskating Championship were carried out there.
Athletes of all kinds will find it well worth the effort to try the new
RK 4. The course is located directly next to the Skate Arena Jüterbog
and is extremely well-suited for speedskating endurance training or skating
marathon preparation. The 45-kilometer strip leads you through countless
fields and forests and provides fantastic natural scenary.

A new, 10 km long track connects Fröhden and Wahlsdorf. It divides the almost
100 km long circuit RK 1 into two smaller circuits (RK 5, RK 6), each approximately
50 km. The track through the forest and the fields presents a real challenge to skaters:
the village of Schlenzer, which marks the middle of the circuit, lies on a hill.

On one of the nearby trails, which is "only" 2 meters wide, it's also
worth a trek on bike to the industrial heritage Glashütte(flyer, pdf), former glassworks
near Baruth, where in the last few years a lively museum community has
grown up. Of course there are cafés, hotels, bike and skate rental at
your convenience. In the near future, also in the villages it crosses
this trail will be adapted for skating.
The FLAEMING-SKATE offers a limitless set of possibilities for day trips, weekend vacation, or longer holidays on bike or inline skates. Not only the natives of Berlin and Brandenburg have taken advantage of all this area has to offer. FLAEMING-SKATE has also attracted many other devoted visitors from throughout Germany and Europe. The number of enthusiasts increases from one day to the next. The large demand justifies the continuation of this unique tourism project in Europe - further additions and new courses are already planned.
